This ant species lives in the southeastern US, living only as far north as coastal North Carolina, and as far south as the Florida Keys. They have been found as far west as Texas and Mexico. This ant seems adaptable, living in both dry and moist habitats, and in disturbed and urban habitats. They live with only one queen, and eat a variety of foods. We know from this project that cookie crumbs (when available) can be included in their diet!
