Aphaenogaster rudis group

Aphaenogaster rudis may be one of the most commonly encountered species in forested habitats throughout eastern North America, and yet its taxonomy is still being resolved! The rudis group is composed of a handful of species that can often be very difficult to distinguish. Is there hybridization between the different species? Are there cryptic species within the group that we just haven't identified yet?
