Linepithema humile

The invasion of the Argentine Ant (Linepithema humile) around the world has had extremely damaging effects to local ecosystems, in some cases killing off native species of arthropods and even lizards. This species is native to the region around South America's Paraná River, but can now be found almost anywhere that has a warm climate and human activity.

Find out more about this species at Antweb and see more photos at Alex Wild's photography site.
